Does your skin sting and burn when you apply products?
Does it go red easily?
Does your skin feel sore?
Yes? You probably have sensitive skin.
So, what is sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin is prone to inflammation and reactions to products, chemicals, fragrances and more. It often reacts by going red, stinging, burning and itching and can often be dry and flaky.
True sensitive skin is a genetic skin type and while we can’t change genetics properly looking after the skin can help manage the symptoms.
Often the cause of a seemingly sensitive skin is due to lack of care and leaving the skin unprotected and open to the elements. This causes the skin’s natural barrier to become damaged. This is a sensitized skin created by external factors such as environment and poor care.
Worry not though, there are things you can do to soothe your skin and repair its natural barrier to allow the skin to function properly.
